My name is Frank Pierson
I was born on July 4th, 1967 in Springfield, Ohio. I lived in the
Springfield/Urbana area most of my childhood. I moved to Illinois
with my future wife in 1988. One of my first friends here in
Illinois was a fellow by the name of Chad Snyder. He and I spent many
hours fishing together in local area stripmine ponds and lakes. He
introduced me to lure collecting a couple years after we met. That
led me into carving lures for my own personal use. I found it was a
little harder than it looked to make a lure that was well balanced
and would really catch fish. So, I let the lure making go for a
while, but instead got into carving small duck and goose decoys for
Christmas presents for family members and local benefit auctions.
I really hadn't made many lures for several years and then somehow
I stumbled onto a website called Lure Wizards. I sat back and
watched for a year or so and admired the work that was being done
by all the carvers there. Then, in late 2004, Larry Shanker of
Legendary Lures announced a "lure swap"(Itty Bitty Bluegill Bugs
was the theme), and I couldn't resist the thought of carving a few
bug -sized lures and putting a unique paint job on them. After all
was said and done with that swap, I found that it became almost like
therapy for me to go to my garage and make a few chips every
so often. I believe everyone should find the one thing
(like lure carving) that is their therapy.
My hope is that everyone who ever holds one of my carvings in
their hands will enjoy it as much as I enjoy making them, whether
it be a lure, duck or anything else I happen to whittle out of a
piece of wood.
These are some examples of my work. If you like my work and would
like to order some lures please email me.
