Daymon Jordon
Hello, my name is Daymon Jordon
and I am a carpenter by trade. I live in Buckhannon West Virginia, the town where I was born
in 1958. I married my wife Patty in 1979 and we had our daughter Heather in 1984. I am most
proud to be a husband and dad!
Now about fishing, I spent the first fifteen years of my life growing up in Hacker Valley
West Virginia, where we still have a family cabin for hunting, fishing and leisure. Some of
my fondest fishing memories are fishing for Native Brook Trout with my dad. We would only take
line and hooks, then he would cut us Birch branch poles and tie about six feet of line on
them. Tie on a hook, roll a log to find bait and we were fishing!! The longer the pole the
better, you could sneak it out over a hole of water without spooking the fish and with a limber
branch an eight inch Native felt like a lunker!! Another favorite childhood memory was opening
day of trout season in the spring. I would usually spend it with my Grandpa, fishing for big
rainbows and golden trout on Holly River. Sometimes I wish they still had a season on the
trout. Although I have not fished avidly for several years, I began collecting vintage lures
with my Dad in recent years. It was a fascination with these old lures that inspired me to
carve lures. Now this new found hobby has renewed my passion for fishing. Everything comes
back around doesn't it ! I began carving lures in September of 2003, and in a few short months
have met some of the nicest people you could imagine. This adds greatly to the enjoyment of
this hobby. I like variety in my lure making and I'm always trying new things, some work, some
don't, but it's all part of the fun. And I carve for fun in hopes that others will enjoy my
work. To anyone interested in trying their hand at lure making I say, jump right in and go for
it. I feel that if you are blessed with a talent, whatever it may be, excersise it and share
it with others. I would like to thank Henry for sharing this site with us and thanks to all
the great carvers I've met for their encouragement. Carve on, Daymon
